Power of Attorney

Certification of Power of Attorney: Documents should be duly prepared to meet its legal criteria. The person must make his/her physical presence at the Embassy.

Required Documents:

• An application prepared by the Lawyer on the bahalf of the applicant (original),
• Letter for Power of Attorney prepared by Lawyer in a legal size Nepali paper (2 Originals) ,
• Original and copy of Nepalipassport of the applicant,
• Original and copy of Nepali citizenship certificate of the applicant,
• A certified copy of Nepali citizenship certificate of the person whom the Power of Attorney is delegated,
• Two recently taken passport-sized photographs,
• For Power of Attorney of selling land, original and copy of the land ownership certificate (LALPOORJA) and certified copy land tax/property tax payment slip,
• For Power of Attorney of selling other properties (like selling of motorbikes, cars, etc.), original and copy of property ownership document,
• For Power of Attorney of divorce, original and copy of marriage registration certificate,
• Certified copies of the Nepali citizenship certificates of the witnesses and certified copy of ID card the the lawyer,

• Original and copies of proof of status in Canada (Visa, PR, Study/Work permit),

Fee Structure:

In case of Land/House transfer to own family members within three generations: CAD 5.00

Other PoAs: CAD 50.00

Fee should be paid through Debit Card or Bank Draft / Money Order in the name of “Embassy of Nepal, Ottawa”.

Note:

• The applicants are requested to send scanned copies of the required document along with their contact/mobile number via email to the embassy's email address :nepalembassy@rogers.com,
• The Embassy will review the documents, fix an appointment (date and time) and contact the applicant accordingly,
• If you are flying or driving from a long distance to get the document signed please call Embassy in advance to find out if the Ambassador is available on the date of your ravel/visit as this document is signed only by the Ambassador.

Effective from April 2023, the service of attestation of Power of Attorney for Foreign Nationals of Nepali origin (NRN card holders), has been suspended in accordance with the provision of the National Civil Procedure (Code) Act, 2017 of Nepal Section 153(3) and the circular received at the Embassy.
